Submit Proposal

NECLTA (The New England Chinese Language Teachers Association) is calling for proposals for presentations at its 10th annual conference. The conference will be held tentatively in person at Tufts University on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, but may be moved online (via Zoom) if the Covid-19 situation gets worse. If the conference will be held virtually, we will email you the links for the Zoom meeting a few days before the conference starts. We welcome proposals from K-12 public and private school teachers, Chinese school teachers, college and university educators in Chinese, graduate students, national and international scholars, and educational administrators. It is also our hope that more presentations can focus on online Chinese language teaching since this form of delivery has become the new norm of foreign language instruction. However, your presentation may address any aspect of issues in teaching and learning Chinese language and culture at various levels in different settings, including but not limited to: 

1. teaching expansion in remote learning 
2. enrollment and retention
3. classroom teaching practices
4. technology application in Chinese teaching
5. K-12 Standards-based instruction
6. performance-based assessments
7. thematic unit lesson planning 
8. reading and writing literacy development 
9. second language acquisition of Chinese 
10. Chinese linguistics and teaching of pronunciation, grammar, etc.
11. teaching culture 
12. teaching heritage students 
13. intercultural communication
14. study abroad
15. others: administration, teacher training, immersion programs, etc.

Proposals should be submitted online at www.neclta.org by August 29, 2021. The direct link for submission is http://www.neclta.org/submit-proposal. Notification of acceptance decisions will be sent out through email by September 12, 2021. The maximum length of a proposal should not exceed 500 words (in English or Chinese). We will set up a poster section on the NECLTA website should we decide to accept more submissions than the space allowed, so that all participants can see your work.

新英格兰地区中文教师协会将于2021 年10 月2 日在塔夫茨大学举办第十届年会。大会目前暂定在线下进行，但由于新冠疫情造成的不确定性以及病毒进一步传播的风险，如果情况不允许则改在网上进行，届时我们会把Zoom 的会议链接及时发给与会者。 欢迎全球中小学和大学中文教师、研究生、学者、教育管理者参加大会。 大会演讲报告提要的议题包括：教学机会的扩展与虚拟教学、学生人数的保持、课堂教学理论和实践、科技在中文教学中的应用、中小学的课程标准、实践性评估、主题单元教学、阅读与写作技能、汉语习得研究、 汉语语言学和教学语法、文化教学、有中文背景学生的汉语习得及教学、跨文化交际、海外留学等等。请您于 2021年 8月 29 日之前在NECLTA的主页上（www.neclta.org）提交报告提要, 直接投稿链接为http://www.neclta.org/submit-proposal。报告是否录用的通知将于2021年9 月12 日前通过电邮发出。报告提要请勿超过500 字。如果多篇论文不能在会议上宣讲，我们会在协会网站上设置海报版，上传这些论文的内容提要。
