Position Summary
Within a project, coordinates and reviews work of authors; edits and prepares manuscript; collaborate with design/ production and edits typeset pages (print and digital); shares products’ highlights with sales and marketing
 
Responsibilities and Duties
·  Help develop K-12 and/or college Chinese and other Asian language-learning materials
·  Edit manuscripts prepared by in-house and outside authors for accuracy, clarity, organization, content, and pedagogy in accordance with project guidelines and company standards of quality
·  Review, copy edit, proofread, style tag textbook and ancillary manuscripts, online and digital content, audio, video, and eBooks, plus marketing pieces
·  Communicate effectively with authors, freelancers, designers, and others to maintain schedule and quality of manuscripts through final files
·  Prepare manuscripts, develop or check page layouts, and implement all steps in the production of assigned projects
·  Collaborate with Production in scheduling, tracking, and releasing project materials on time
·  Work closely with Marketing to communicate project details and specifications for marketing/sales efforts as needed
·  Participate in promotional webinars and in-person product presentations and training
·  Attend relevant workshops and help at conferences when appropriate
·  Conduct competitive analysis of print and digital products, report findings, and train sales reps on the current competition
·  Review manuscript submissions when requested
·  Perform other duties as needed and requested
 
Qualifications and Skills
·  Excellent English reading and writing skills; native reading and writing proficiency in Mandarin Chinese
·  Knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style or equivalent and minimum of three years’ experience in editing and project management
·  Highly organized with strong time management skills and meticulous attention to detail
·  Strong and focused work ethic
·  Knowledge of foreign language pedagogy from teaching preferred
·  Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and follow-through
·  Love for Asian languages, cultures, and global education a must
